Install Q.wiki connect via GPO in a AD

This guide helps you deploy the Q.wiki Connect browser extension via Group Policy (GPO) in Active Directory. The configuration differs by browser.

Important: You need access to Active Directory and Group Policy Management to perform these configurations.

Configure Microsoft Edge

Download policy templates

  1. Download the policy templates from Microsoft: direct download of Edge Policy Templates (external)
  2. Extract the downloaded file.
  3. Navigate to MicrosoftEdgePolicyTemplates\windows – the file with the .adm extension is located there.

Import template

  1. Open Group Policy Management and select the policy you want to edit.
  2. Import the template.

Add extension

  1. Open the Group Policy again and navigate to the corresponding setting.

  1. Enter the following ID as the value: gbpjiapcejhebpcahlbaalaofklnobnd

Configure Google Chrome

Download templates

  1. Download the policy templates: direct download of Chrome Policy Templates (external)

Import templates

  1. Open User Configuration in Group Policy Management.
  2. Import the templates using the corresponding menu item.

A dialog opens where you can select and add the downloaded templates.

Force extension installation

  1. Open User Configuration and navigate to the end of the folder structure:

  1. Open the setting Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions.
  2. Add the following ID: ehapebknchbhgklkcghkhmcjgaijhiii

Configure Firefox

Create new policy

  1. Create a new policy for the Group Policy.

Set up templates

  1. Download the latest policy templates from GitHub: Firefox Policy Templates (external)
  2. Extract the downloaded file.
  3. Copy the ADMX files to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions.
  4. Copy the ADML files to the language-specific folder under C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions (e.g., en-US for English).

Add extension

  1. Open the Group Policy Editor.
  2. Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Mozilla Firefox > Extensions.
  3. Open the corresponding setting for forced extensions.
  4. Enter the following URL as the value: https://s3.modac.cloud/public.s3.modac.cloud/q_wiki_connect/q_wiki_connect.xpi

Result

After completing all steps, Q.wiki Connect will be automatically installed in the configured browsers and cannot be uninstalled by users. Installation occurs on the next restart or logon, depending on the Group Policy refresh interval.

Tip: Make sure the policies are applied to all relevant users or computers. This can be configured in the Group Policy properties under the corresponding security groups.
