Module Generator: Basic function of the internal projects module

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 4:21 PM

Important: The Internal Projects module presented in this article is based on the standard module template of the Module Generator. Modules created with the Module Generator can be customized to individual requirements. This guide describes the basic functions of the standard module template.

In the template, you'll find an empty link field under Data and Views → Project Master Data → Associated Project Process. There, you must select the process module whose pages should be included.

Purpose of the Module

The Internal Projects module gives you an overview of all planned, ongoing, and completed projects in your organization. You can view the individual project phases and manage the associated tasks.

Workflow

In the module, you can propose ideas for projects. The project idea is either approved or rejected. If approved, the project is moved to the status in Progress. You can then define milestones. Associated tasks and decisions can be assigned via the milestone overview. Once all tasks and milestones are completed, you can archive the project upon successful completion by moving it to the status Project Completed. You can also move the project to the status on Hold if needed and from there either delete it directly or move it back to the status in Progress.

Module Element

A module element is divided into 3 sections:

  • Master data information regarding project costs, team, and progress
  • Overview and task management of milestones
  • Project documentation and attachments

Project Master Data

In the project information, you maintain general details that make it possible to assess the effort and relevance of the project. When you propose a new project idea, you provide the basic master data for the project, team, processes, and costs. In an ongoing project, you can document, justify, and evaluate project progress.

Milestones and Tasks

Via the milestone overview, you define these milestones and assign associated tasks to the project team through task management. You can anchor decisions, processes, and deadlines in the tasks.

Project Documentation

In the third section, you document the project through the free-text field and the attachment overview.

Rights Management

In configuration mode under the Roles tab, you define which users or groups are authorized to view and manage the overview of all projects. These role holders are authorized to process the requests in the respective approval stages and move them to the next status. You can also use this to set view rights for specific projects and the entire module. These roles must be defined before the module is introduced.

Possible Customizations

In the Internal Projects module, in addition to the required adjustments in rights management, optional customizations to the project master data and project overview are possible. You can also define additional workflow statuses for the project status. The module is then ready for use.

Important: You need Key User rights to perform the following steps.
