In this article, you'll learn how to reassign the parent page of a Q.wiki page. The process differs depending on your Q.wiki version.
As of Q.wiki 6.9
Starting with this version, changes to the parent page are no longer made in the change proposal, but directly in the published version or in the draft.
- The change proposal automatically follows the setting of the published version.
- Only page owners and cross-departmental (global) Key Users are authorized to change the parent page.
- You'll find the feature in the right sidebar. Click the icon to change the parent page.

- A dialog box will then open, allowing you to select the new parent page.

- If you change the parent page for a published page while a change proposal exists at the same time, the new parent page is automatically applied to the change proposal as well.
Before Q.wiki 6.9
In earlier Q.wiki versions, you must make the change to the parent page in the draft or change proposal and then publish it.
- Changes to the parent page must be made in the draft or change proposal and then published.
- All users authorized in the change proposal can change the parent page.
- You'll find the feature in the three-dot menu.
Step by step
- Open the draft or change proposal of the page.
- Go to Three-dot menu > Manage page > Parent page.

- Click Assign new parent page.

- Enter the name of the new parent page in the search field. Suggestions will appear from the first character onward.
- Select the desired page from the list.
- Confirm the change by clicking Assign new parent page.
- If you made the change in the change proposal, then proceed with the approval workflow.
Impact on navigation and URL
The parent page affects the breadcrumb navigation but does not change the page's URL. For URL changes, see change technical address (URL).
