Search and find content

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 4:19 PM

The intelligent search function in Q.wiki uses advanced semantic technology. It recognizes synonyms, various spellings, and corrects small typos – so you get more accurate search results.

Benefits of the new search (from version 6.18)

  • Structured content categories: Content is clearly organized into wiki content and add-on modules.
  • Quick preview: Instant result preview speeds up your information search.
  • Content summaries: Each page provides a brief, context-specific summary.
  • Keyboard shortcut control: Efficient searching through simple keyboard combinations.

Quick search

Open the search using the search field in the left navigation bar or with a keyboard shortcut:

Tip: Press Ctrl + K (Windows) or ⌘ + K (Mac) to open quick search.

You immediately see your search results with the following information:

  • Content title
  • Content type (identified by icons)
  • Preview text
  • Responsible person
  • Last modified date
  • Status

Below that, you'll find a list of modules that provide search results. The search automatically distinguishes between wiki content and add-on modules.

Tip: Press ESC to close the search panel.

What gets searched?

Process modules (wiki content):

  • Wiki pages, document pages, and their attachments
  • Semantic search logic: Synonyms, context, and small typos are recognized
  • Default: Current unit
  • In advanced search, you can expand the scope to parent modules and other units

Add-on modules:

  • Elements in add-on modules, tasks within elements, and attachment titles
  • Keyword search logic: You need to match exact terms in titles or content
  • Default: Current unit
  • In advanced search, you can expand the scope

Advanced search

Advanced search offers extensive filters and separate tabs for wiki content and add-on modules. Open it with these keyboard combinations:

Keyboard shortcuts for advanced search:
– Wiki content: Ctrl + Shift + F
– Add-on modules: Ctrl + Shift + L

Alternatively, you can click Advanced search from the quick search results.

Layout of advanced search

The search interface consists of three areas:

  1. Tabs: Choose between Pages (wiki content) or Add-on module elements
  2. Search results (center): Results with title, preview text, responsible person, date, and status
  3. Filters (left): Narrow down by units and other criteria
